The Safety Arm System®

You don’t always realize the value of something until it’s gone. For the crews at Cy-Fair Fire Department in Texas, that realization came when they temporarily operated without Technimount’s Safety Arm System, which secures medical devices to stretchers during transport. What many initially viewed as a convenient mounting solution quickly proved to be an essential part of patient care, workflow efficiency, and provider safety. From accessing monitors and managing cables to maintaining constant visual contact with critical patient data, the absence of the Safety Arm System highlighted just how much EMS crews rely on it every day.

“It’s been pretty bad,” said Paramedic Patrick McNiel. “You had to try and remember how we did things years and years ago without Technimount—where we put the devices, how we accessed them, and how we monitored the patient at the same time.”

Without a secure and accessible location for critical medical equipment, clinicians were forced to divide their attention between the patient and the equipment. According to McNiel, this directly affected their ability to provide care.

The Safety Arm System keeps medical devices within reach and in the caregiver’s line of sight, allowing clinicians to remain beside the patient throughout transport. “It lets you sit right by the patient at all times,” McNiel explained. “Patients ask questions about what you’re seeing on the monitor, which helps them be informed during the treatment process.”

Lieutenant Elizabeth Horton shared a similar perspective. After working for months without the Safety Arm System, she quickly realized how much it contributed to daily operations.

“I didn’t think it was going to make that much of a difference, but once it was suddenly gone, it was very obvious how much we needed the arms back.”

She described numerous challenges that arose without the system, including tangled cables, limited access to monitor accessories, and the inability to easily view patient vitals. These obstacles increased workload, consumed valuable time, and distracted crews from patient care.

“It’s a no-brainer,” Horton said. “It’s best for the patient. It’s best for your crews.”

From enhancing patient care and reducing caregiver strain to increasing crew safety during transport, Technimount’s Safety Arm System continues to demonstrate why it has become a trusted solution for EMS organizations worldwide. As Lieutenant Horton summarized, “It’s a huge game changer. It allows us to care for our patients the way we want to care for our patients.”
