- Facilitate brainstorming and ideation workshops and drive the team toward clear, robust, and well-justified solutions.
- Conduct mechanical risk analyses (pre-FMEA, dimensional verification, etc.).
- Review, challenge, and improve designs to ensure performance, ergonomics, safety, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain complete technical documentation (2D drawings, BOMs, assemblies, tolerances, manufacturing notes, and technical documentation required throughout the medical product development process).
- Actively participate in design reviews, risk reviews, and production transfer reviews.
LEADERSHIP, MENTORING AND GUIDANCE
- Provide guidance to Junior Mechanical Designers in their day-to-day tasks, design approaches, and priorities.

Required Experience and Qualifications
- Technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DEC or equivalent).
- CSWA certification required; SolidWorks Expert certification is an asset.
- Minimum 15 years of advanced mechanical design experience (ideally 15–20+ years), with demonstrated achievements throughout the full product development cycle, preferably in the medical device industry, and experience with production transfer.
- Demonstrated experience designing complex products, including mechanisms, structures, tight tolerances, and performance-critical applications, ideally within a regulated environment (medical, EMS, industrial, aerospace, etc.).
- Strong experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA), design reviews, and field problem-solving.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a technical reference and to guide and mentor junior team members.
- Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD software, with strong SolidWorks experience strongly preferred.
